What is 5% coverage?

You see it everywhere “toner cartridge yields 2300 copies at 5% coverage. So just what does that mean? Well, the simplest terms are that it is when 5% of the space on a page is covered in toner or ink.  Included below is a sample of 5% coverage on a cartridge.



When I change the cartridge why is there toner inside the machine?

This is normal. When the cartridge prints since it is using a powder some of it may get into other compartments due to airflow. You can take a soft cloth and wipe the inside of the printer down.



What is a remanufactured cartridge?

Remanufactured cartridges are usually name brand product that is reused. The plastic shell on the cartridge is cleaned and any parts that need to be replaced after a cartridges life are replaced.



What is a compatible cartridge?

Compatible cartridges are products not made by the name brand company (HP, Brother, Xerox). Thee products are always certified to be used in the machine you have.  Manufacturing processes are identical to name brand but don’t carry the hefty price tag.



Will using compatible cartridges ruin my printer?

This is a common myth that holds no merit. Cartridges made from 3rd party suppliers are often 100% OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) guaranteed.



Do Ramanufactured/ Compatible cartridges void my warranty?

Under the MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY IMPROVEMENT ACT: (United States Code Annotated – Title 15 Commerce And Trade – Chapter 50 Consumer Product Warranties Section 2302), it is illegal for a manufacturer to require you to use their branded parts in order to retain the warranty.
